چکیده

The distribution of magnetic moments in finite ferromagnetic bodies was first investigated by Landau an Lifshitz in a famous paper, where they obtained the domain structure of a ferromagnetic crystal at low temperatures, in the regime of saturated magnetization. We propose a generalization of the above approach, using from the start the Landau theory of phase transitions, where the free energy of the system is written as a functional with the magnetic permeability as the order-parameter density. We obtain more general field solutions, allowing nonhomogeneous regimes, which are used to describe the ferromagnetic phase transition at Tc. We find that domain sizes and walls are enlarged when the temperature is increased in direction of Tc. Very close to Tc however, the walls tend to suppress the layers, leading to a continuous vanishing of the domain structure. We discuss the validity of the model in the critical region.

Instability of the quantum-critical point of itinerant ferromagnets.

We study the stability of the quantum-critical point for itinerant ferromagnets commonly described by the Hertz-Millis-Moriya (HMM) theory. We argue that in D</=3 long-range spatial correlations associated with the Landau damping of the order parameter field generate a universal negative, nonanalytic |q|((D+1)/2) contribution to the static magnetic susceptibility chi(s)(q,0), which makes HMM th...

Two-band superconductors: hidden criticality deep in the superconducting state.

We show that two-band superconductors harbor hidden criticality deep in the superconducting state, stemming from the critical temperature of the weaker band taken as an independent system. For sufficiently small interband coupling γ the coherence length of the weaker band exhibits a remarkable deviation from the conventional monotonic increase with temperature, namely, a pronounced peak close t...

Dissipative Dynamics of Solitons in Planar Ferromagnets

Dynamics of magnetic bubbles in planar ferromagnets described by the Landau-Lifshitz equation with dissipation is analyzed. The pure O(3) sigma model has static multisoliton solutions, characterized by a number of parameters. The parameters describe a finite dimensional manifold. A small perturbation of energy functional with respect to the sigma model forces solitons to move. Multisoliton dyna...

Exact solutions of the 2D Ginzburg-Landau equation by the first integral method

The first integral method is an efficient method for obtaining exact solutions of some nonlinear partial differential equations. This method can be applied to non integrable equations as well as to integrable ones. In this paper, the first integral method is used to construct exact solutions of the 2D Ginzburg-Landau equation.

Self-organized Criticality and Phase Problem in Magnetoaocustic Emission Burst in Ferromagnets

Two types of ferromagnets, pure iron and steel with varying geometry and microstructural properties, were prepared for the present study of magnetoacoustic emission (MAE). The purpose was to separate the effects of structural property variations from changes caused by differences in the sample geometry. The position and shape of the leading MAE sub-burst and its variation among the samples are ...
